CourtSide Pro Privacy Policy
CourtSide Pro is a basketball team management app for coaches, team staff and families. This policy explains what the iOS app and the CourtSide Pro website collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. We do not sell personal information, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, your name, a sign-in identifier, and a phone number if you choose to add one to your profile. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may give us a private relay email address instead of your own.
- Team information you or your team staff enter. Team name and logo, player names, jersey numbers, positions, bios and photos, schedules and locations, game results, statistics, shot locations, attendance, practice plans and coaching notes.
- Content you share with your team. Team chat messages and reactions, photos and videos in the Media Room, and reports you submit about content.
- Team membership. Your role on each team (for example coach, scorekeeper or parent/guardian), invitations, and which players a family account is linked to.
- Device information needed for notifications. If you turn on notifications, a push notification token for your device.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe to CourtSide Plus, the App Store transaction identifier, plan, and renewal or expiry date, so your account receives the features it paid for. We never receive your payment details; Apple handles payment.
- Calendar links you connect. If a coach connects a team calendar subscription link, we store that link to import the team's games and practices.
- Your voice, only while you use voice stat entry. When you enter stats by voice, the app uses the microphone and Apple's speech recognition to turn what you say into stats. Recognition runs on your iPhone when it supports that; otherwise Apple processes the audio. We don't receive or keep the audio, only the stats it produces.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, health data, browsing history or advertising identifiers.
Information about young players
Players on a roster are often minors. CourtSide Pro is for adults 18 and older: coaches, team staff and parents or guardians create accounts and enter player information. Players under 18 cannot have their own account. Everyone confirms they are 18 or older when they sign up; we record the date of that confirmation, not a birth date. Where the law requires it, the app also checks the age range on your Apple Account; it learns only the range and doesn't store it. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data. A team's player information is visible only to members of that team. If you are a parent or guardian and want information about your child reviewed, corrected or removed, contact the team's coach or email us at the address below.
How we use information
- To provide the app: sign-in, rosters, schedules, live game tracking, statistics, reports, team chat, media sharing, widgets and notifications.
- To keep teams safe: enforce roles and permissions, review reported content, and act on blocks and removals.
- To provide optional AI features, as described below.
- To respond to support requests and to keep the service secure and working.
AI features
Some features use artificial intelligence: season summaries, player insights, questions about your stats, game MVP picks, halftime talking points, post-game player shoutouts, end-of-season player spotlights, and importing a roster or schedule from text, photos or files. On supported devices the app first uses Apple's on-device model, which does not send your data off your device. When that is not available, the request is sent through our server to Google Gemini. What the request contains:
- Stats questions, summaries, insights and MVP picks: your team's statistics, game results, notes and your question, with player names replaced by labels such as "P1" before anything leaves your device.
- Halftime talking points: that game's score and tracked stats, with players identified only by jersey number.
- Post-game shoutouts: each player's numbers from that game and whether the team won, with players identified only by labels.
- Season spotlights: one player's season stats, with no name.
- Roster and schedule imports: the text, photos or files you choose, which may contain names.
We use Google's paid Gemini API service. Under its terms, Google processes the request to generate the response and does not use it to improve its products; Google may keep requests for a limited time to detect abuse.
The app asks for your permission before sending anything to Google Gemini, and you can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Legal. AI features that need Gemini will not work while it is off; the rest of the app is unaffected.
Who processes information
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in, file storage and server functions.
- Google processes AI requests sent to Gemini, only with your permission.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, push notifications, on-device AI and speech recognition, and processes CourtSide Plus purchases.
- YouTube plays a team's live stream when a coach adds a YouTube link. Watching it loads YouTube's player, which YouTube's own privacy policy covers.
- Resend delivers the email that alerts us to a report needing our review. It contains the report's ID only.
These providers process information on our behalf to run the service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
Who can see your information
Team information is shared with the members of that team according to their role. For example, family accounts see their linked players' information and team content, and can ask questions about and build reports on the team's season statistics, which include every player on the roster. Coaches and admins can also manage the roster. Content you post in team chat or the Media Room is visible to your team.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep your account and team information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete Account, or from the team hub). Deleting your account removes your CourtSide Pro profile, memberships, push registrations and AI usage records, and removes or scrubs the chat content and media you uploaded. Uploaded files are removed from storage shortly afterwards. Teams you own are transferred to another admin or coach on the team, or deleted if there is none. A team's roster and game statistics belong to the team and remain for its other members. Minimal records without your name or email are kept to prevent a deleted account from being restored. If you use the same sign-in for another app on the same service, deleting your CourtSide Pro account removes your CourtSide Pro data but leaves that sign-in for the other app.
Some records are deleted automatically after a set time:
| Record | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Daily AI request counts | 90 days |
| Queued push notifications | 7 days |
| Expired invite codes no one joined with | 30 days after they expire |
| Records that the content filter blocked a post (the matched word only, not the post) | 90 days |
| Content reports, once resolved | 12 months after review. Open reports are kept until they're resolved. |
| Account deletion records | 1 year |
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections and access is limited by team membership and role on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and team information in the app.
- Turn notifications and AI data sharing on or off in Settings.
- Delete your account in the app.
- Email us to access, correct or delete information, or with any privacy question. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
October 27, 2026: listed every AI feature and what each sends; noted that we use Google's paid Gemini service; added phone number, voice stat entry, YouTube live streams and report alert emails; added how long records are kept; changed the contact address; noted that family accounts can ask about and build reports on the team's statistics.
